When a visitor travels along the road that connects Padua to Venice, he comes across the enchanting Riviera del Brenta, which in 18th century was considered almost one of the quarters of Venice as the ideal mainland extension of the Grand Canal.
This beautiful area with its sumptuous villas (there are about 80), built by famous architects and surrounded by fabulous parks, which are reflected in the winding course of the river, holds such valuable historical, cultural, artistic and environmental heritage, rarely found in other places. It is so unique that numerous famous writers and poets drew inspiration from here and outstanding painters gave lasting fame to these jewels in their masterpieces.
A lot of traces of by-gone times recalling past atmospheres of the Serenissima period are found in Dolo, a nice village along the Brenta Riviera. So, if you are on the way towards this area, you know you are travelling to the right direction. Here rich and noble families of Venice provided themselves with food and drinks for their luxuriuos parties, and Dogi’s sumptuous tables where cheered up by local wines.
